The Kerala State Development Corporation for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, Ltd.

The Kerala State Development Corporation for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Limited, incorporated in 1972 as a Company under the Companies Act, 1956 by the state of Kerala has always been in the forefront of state’s efforts for the multifaceted development of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in the state through its intervention in different spheres of economic activity. The role of the Corporation over the years had predominantly been as a catalyst to trigger enough enthusiasm and energy among the potential members belonging to the target group with the ultimate aim of empowering the community in general and the group of entrepreneurs among them in particular for their socio-economic advancement. The Corporation is well aware of the magnitude of responsibility put on its shoulders by the policy makers, and hence has been functioning as a prudent development finance institution as it is supposed to satisfy the growing ambitions and aspirations of a core group of entrepreneurs from a community which had been marginalised and kept out of the mainstream of national development for years. As an institution constitutionally bound to extend concessional credit support to the economically poor but dynamic entrepreneurs to empower them to tap the most lucrative business opportunities offered by a thriving economy, the Corporation has been able to play a commendable role in the field of project financing irrespective of the sectoral differentiation like primary, secondary or tertiary sectors or rather the varying levels of business potential offered by each of these segments.
